In order to be a Forensic Accountant, first, one need to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, then get prepared for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam in order to become a certified accountant. Finally, once you clear the CPA exam and earn a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, you can formally start practicing as a forensic accountant in any forensic accounting jobs
But this is not an easy process – typically, only 10-20% of test takers pass the exam on their first try. Once you pass your exam and gain a few years of experience in the field, you may want to pursue additional certification as either a Certified Forensic Accountant (CrFA) or a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). The 12-credit graduate Certificate Program in Forensic Accounting and Fraud Investigation (FAFI) is offered with these two options to earn this certificate:
- Option 1: Complete a four course stand-alone non-degree graduate certificate program curriculum, or
- Option 2: Complete a Master of Professional Accountancy (MPA) degree plus two additional certificate courses
